5 articles all mums should read today.
The Internet is a wonderful thing, bringing together so much wonderful and uplifting information…but it’s also a noisy place and some of the most magical of posts can get lost.
These are my top 5 blog post for parents who want to read some quality, encouraging and helpful stuff as they walk the sometimes rocky path of parenting…

Tricky People Are The New Strangers from Checklist Mommy
This post just recently came to my attention thanks to Naomi from Seven Cherubs, who linked to it via her Facebook page, and it is one of the most helpful things I’ve read about teaching your children about safe, and tricky people.
“Right after Diddy was born, I was in the car listening to NPR and I heard a child safety educator say, “Stop telling your kids not to talk to strangers. They might need to talk to a stranger one day. Instead, teach them which sorts of strangers are safe. You know who’s safe? A mom with kids. Period. Your kid gets separated from you at the mall? Tell her to flag down the first mom with kids she sees.”
This was fantastic advice. I have shared it with everyone who will listen, ever since.” Keep reading…

I Didn’t Fall In Love With My Baby Right Away by Maya Harel
I really loved Maya’s post about this, I could have written these words myself(!)…but I didn’t so I’ll just send you over to read what Maya had to say…
Among all the “you’ll seeeeees” that pregnant women hear, the positive predictions can be just as powerful and just as wrong. Everyone talks about that moment when they first lay eyes on their babies, when they felt this huge rush of love, when they knew they would give their life for this child in an instant, when their life hits this pinnacle of pinnacles. My moment wasn’t exactly like that, and it was fine (and normal) too. Keep reading…

It’s Better To Give from Diary of a SAHM
Jess’ post really struck a chord with me this week…and prompted me to action. I hope it does the same for you.
Did you know I have holes in my floor? They came from leaky sunlights in the roof, and they are annoying, dirty and beyond frustrating. When small children come to my house they say, ‘what happened to your floor?’ whilst their parents are too polite to ask. Keep reading…

Dear Blue Eyed Boy from Under The Yardarm
The very first time I heard this post read out loud by Naomi I was gobsmacked, such beautiful words and great wisdom. I hope I can parent this way when my kids are teenagers…
Dear Blue Eyed Boy,
Hi, it’s Mum. I know you won’t read this yet. I know you’ll take a big breath and sigh and give me that look. The one that says really Mum? But I’m going to write it anyway.
This week you start high school. I can still remember when I was pregnant with you and here we are starting the next stage. The time, it just flies.
So, here are some things I want you to know…. Keep reading…

What Should A 4-Year Old Know? by Magical Childhood
As a mother to a 4 year old I have found great comfort and encouragement in this post and I like to think that the message coming through it is relevant to parents of children of all ages…
(This post) continues to be the most popular page on the Magical Childhood site. I don’t think a week has passed in the past eight or so years when I have not received a letter from a parent, grandparent or teacher about it. Parents and principals especially have said they wish more parents realized these things. Keep reading…

Stitch Baby + Kids
Such great posts from wonderful bloggers, absolutely, above all talking talking talking to your children helps them develop SO much more than any mother realises at the time. I remember my first daughter’s kindergarten report siting “extensive general knowledge” & the teacher asked how we do it – books, encylopeadea, libraries, documentaries . . . i just said i answer her questions & she asks a lot, they lead to talking points & so it goes on. I’ve done that for all 4 of our children, my husband & i have very different experiences to offer our children & they soak it all up. Love Posie
Posie Patchwork recently posted..a week of weakness
