Why I Am Not A Hairdresser (Or, Don’t Try This At Home Folks!)

I am a bad, bad mother.

I turned my daughter’s lush, long, beautiful hair into something short and not so lush.

What was I thinking??

Thankfully she is too young to realise
Thankfully my husband is a generous man.
Thankfully her hair grows quickly.
Thankfully there are still 5 weeks until my birthday party where we will be taking photos.

Thankfully, she is a gorgeous little girl who loves me anyway. (Did I mention the part about her being too young to realise what an idiot her mother is?)

Lesson: If you want to cut your child’s hair and they finally agree to sit still so you can do it, take a deep breath and take a snip into the unknown because you just never know what the result will be…

Oh and adding to the things I am feeling sick about, I seem to have lost my wedding rings. ARGH! But *shhh* I’ve haven’t confessed that to The Architect yet.

*UPDATE* After a day of getting used to it, I now think her hair looks cute. She just looks so much more like a little girl.  And she is a little girl so that’s appropriate. Also, after three days of looking I confessed to The Architect about my rings. He found them in 5 minutes. As it happens, I am not very good at “looking”!

  1. LOL.. She looks just fine to me!! U should see my boys… when I first got hold of clippers. One word, disaster.

When you’re not looking for it, it pops up. So, next time u lose something..stop looking! :D

    • Thanks Tat. The comments of others are never helpful in moments like these! When my husband first saw her, the first thing out of my mouth was “Don’t say anything, I know! I know!!”

  2. Too funny about the hair cut!! My sis is a hairdresser and showed me how to cut Max’s hair but … I’m a little nervous! His mullet is getting out of control! :)

  3. Hahaha! She looks beautiful, so so cute :o)
I have to laugh as I also cut my son’s hair, have done for his entire life. Problem is, it is really obvious I do. I have had countless remarks from family & friends. Some subtle, some not so subtle about when I’m going to finally take him to a ‘real’ hairdresser. I know I need to, with him starting preschool, the dagginess can’t go on. I’m certain he will get teased. Seriously, I have thought of this! Let’s just say you’ve done a much better job on your Bliss’ locks, than I do with my Angus’ hair :o/
