These are just some of the amazing creations my aunt made:
So it might make some sense why I felt such trepidation when it came to making this:
Thoughts on “I mentioned the cakes right?”
My mother made the rocket; it fell down the back of the frig.
I made the train for J's 30th. It had to be a coal train, so it was black, and had chocolates for coal in the carriages; and the front had to be red, for his namesake train. He made liquorice tracks. Did I mention there was a carriage for every. person. who came? 15 in total.
The train is the most amazing! Looking at the princess castle makes me laugh – can you imagine if someone tried to serve up a cake with sugar cubes as part of the decorations these days?!?
15 carriages is pretty impressive Al. Do you have any pics?
The mushroom was my first attempt. I made a ladybug last year too but don't have a pic – it was better. Big plans for the big 2 this year!

I love the mushroom!

http://random-alex.livejournal.com/101635.html has pics of the train – not very good ones, because they aren't close-ups.
Sugar cubes are a *great* decoration. Also, I like the idea of jelly crystals… hmm…
I've also made the butterfly, from the Women's Weekly original birthday cake book. I love it.
Awesome cakes! There is something really special about homemade cakes that sticks with the memories.
The cakes look yummy and I'm pretty much sure they are.:-) I like the train cake. My boys will surely be thrilled with this cake design.:-)
