I got a “fail” on the Susie Homemaker test.
As I surveyed my immaculately clean house last week, I turned to my husband and said “Even though I didn’t clean it, it makes me feel like a better (house)wife.”
I may also have uttered the words, “the house doesn’t clean itself you know! I had to pick up the phone.”
Does that make any sense to you because seriously, it seems perfectly sensible to me!!

This beautiful home that I am currently enjoying is courtesy of my darling sister and her boyfriend who arranged for a cleaner to come and restore some of my sanity.
Awesome. Present.
I myself am also a bit in the present giving mode at the moment and the sheer joy I felt upon entering a clean home got me thinking about giving my husband a similar gift – for outside the home. Our garden is entirely the domain of my husband because truth be told, I am an even worse gardener than I am susie homemaker!
We have had very little success in the past with gardeners – they are either overpriced or unreliable – but I am determined that there must be someone out there who can do what we need them to do at the time we agree upon, without charging an arm an a leg. Surely it can be done!
The question is where are they?
Like most things these days it turns out there’s an app for it! Dum de dum, thank you yellow pages for getting it together with the year 2013 and developing a pretty cool app! Using it I have been able to come up with a handful of options and have been able to save them to my favourites and SMS the details to myself for ease of reference (if I find one I like then the app will let me save the details straight into my phone – VERY handy). Now, if I can just find the time to call them up and get a quote! Is there an app for that somewhere??
You can download the app as follows: iTunes and Google Play
So while I still have no gardener (yet) at least I know where I can find one…and now I am off to search for “mobile beauticians” because frankly, that sounds awesome!
If you could choose between a gardener, cleaner, housekeeper or cook which would it be??
Disclaimer: I received an iPhone 5 with the app loaded on it for review purposes.

If by housekeeper you mean someone who will pick up after the kids, do the dishes and put the washing out then yes, a housekeeper! I don’t mind cleaning. I quite like it. It’s all the tidying you have to do first!
I think I would choose housekeeper too. A daily housekeeper of course!! LOL!! Oh to be rich…
Think I would go the cleaner and cook…or did you say just one? Okay cleaner.
And there IS an app for gathering quotes…well, not an app, but a website. A company called Oneflare – you punch in your details and they have thousands of listed trades for anything to do with your house. So for instance, you want a gardener….you punch in details and postcode and they come back to you with 4-5 local quotes for what you want done. Haven’t used it myself but sounds pretty good! Good luck x

Oh I think I have heard of that before, thanks for the reminder!! And seeing as we are fantasising, I’ll let you have two choices ;)
Oh a cleaner for sure! But more specifically one that will tackle my laundry pile (hamper is overflowing) and wash/hang/fold/put away and generally tend to and mend all the items of clothing and linen in our house. Gold stars if they match all the loose socks and sort out my walk in wardrobe/floor-robe…

I got lost in fantasyland there for a minute while I was reading your comment – oh what a dream that would be!!!
always a cleaner… my MIL helps with the washing/ironing/mending and my husband does the cooking…
