Wriggle, Wriggle, Wriggle! {and your chance to win!)

This is a sponsored post.

You know those moments that stick in your memory as clear as day?! One of my stranger ones is around Bliss and nappies. She used to HATE having her nappy changed and would wriggle and squirm and scream and it was so frustrating and, well, demoralising really. Eventually we figured out how to approach it so that it was less of a nightmare for everyone involved but before we managed it, I have this really clear memory of The Architect changing her on the couch. She was calm, so calm, and I felt really ripped off because while I had to do the lion’s share of nappy changing during the day and deal with the screaming, somehow he managed to do it in this completely serene way.

Somewhere along that way with Little Bear I dedided to give Huggies Nappy Pants a whirl. I can’t remember why, but I’m glad I did because suddenly nappy changing was a whole lot quicker and easier. My only gripe about Nappy-Pants is that you can’t buy them in boxes!

(Note: Nappy Pants are not toilet training nappies – they are fully absorbent just like a normal nappy, however you put them on the child like you do a training pant/undies ie. they step into them)

I still love the Huggies Nappy-Pants and if you think they might be for you, you can ask Huggies to send you a free sample

Huggies have a great competition happening at the moment – they are giving away a  Cubby House to one lucky person. It’s not just any old Cubby House either, its a PlayCubb Koalia Blue Cubby House which will delivered and installed directly into your backyard and is valued at just under $5000! Each week they are also giving away $100 Westfield Gift Card plus the first 500 valid entries will receive a free pack of Huggies Nappy Pants.

To enter you just need to create a short video of your squirmy baby and upload it via the Huggies website. If you’d like to see some of the entries that have already gone up you can find them here.

If you are wondering why I am telling you all about this it’s not just because I use Nappy Pants but because Huggies have invited me, along with Christie from Childhood 101, Kate from Kate Says Stuff, Glow from Where’s My Glow? and Mandy from A Little Space Like Home to judge the competition.

Do you have a wriggly squirmy baby? How do you manage it?

Have you ever been late to a party?

I must admit, I am often late to a party. Most recently I was late to the Offspring party…it totally floated off my radar until mid way through season 2. But once I found it, I quickly fell in love with Nina and her internal monologues, not to mention the rest of the fabulous cast! Thanks to Wikipedia, I was able to pretty much up to speed. Phew! What a fabulous show, not to mention incredible wardrobe!!

When we jetted off to New York earlier this year I forgot to set the DVD recorder to tape it while I was away and so missed the exciting second half of the season…for those who have watched it I know you know what I mean (and hey, even I don’t really know what I mean because I haven’t seen it yet!!)

When my lovely friends from Haystac got in touch to ask if I’d like to check out Season 3 and then offer you, my lovely readers, the chance to win the entire season 1-3 set plus soundtrack how could I say no?!?

Today I am beyond thrilled to give you the chance to win your very own Offspring Gift pack. Comp is open until Sept 9!

Just head over to Facebook for your chance to WIN!

~Giveaway~ Teach Your Kids To Learn Another Language

{Giveaway closed: Congratulations to Beatrix from Beatrix Quills!}

Way back when I was at uni I spent some time learning about bilingual education for kids. I thought, and still think, it was a great idea. We all know that children are little sponges and so teaching them a second language from a young age is a wonderful gift. When I married a man who is half-Chinese I thought it was a done deal, our kids would grow up learning Mandarin.

It turns out it’s easier said than done.

It was a hard slog finding a bilingual school and when I did it was a 40minute drive each way and the kids needed to go at different times during the week. Sigh. Couple that with limited resources for to use at home to reinforce the learning and it all seemed too hard.

Enter Glottogon.

bilingual learning, teach mandarin, kids learn another language

Glottogon is a fantastic online store that sells books for children in a number of languages: Greek, French, Italian, German, Arabic, Chinese and others…

This is one of Bliss’ favourite books – it introduces basic Mandarin terms into the story about being a good friend. We read it a lot!

Glottogon have also released a range of their own books which introduce basic concepts to young children like manners, days of the week and parts of the body. The books are available in English as well as a number of other languages – Bear is often found, cosied up in a char, with these in his hands. They are made from a nice thick material, perfect for little ones with great images and very clear layout. We love them!

WIN: Inner B Mum Organiser 2012

Last year I was sent a gorgeous pink Inner B 2012 Mum Organiser.

I love that it has space for all the children, and gives you the ability to know at a glance what’s happening for the whole family with ample space for your daily activities as well as the monthly overviews, birthdays and anniversary’s and the like. I also really like that it’s a run bound diary as it means that you can easily transfer some of the ongoing sections like contacts etc… when the year rolls over.

A little bit of handwriting in a digital age is a beautiful thing and having somewhere lovely to write makes it even more special. This diary certainly checks all the boxes!!

For Mums with two or more children, and especially those with children at school juggling lots of extra-curricula activities this diary would be especially amazing!! For this mum with two little ones and a busy work and personal schedule – I love it!

The Inner B Mum Organiser retails for $44.95

You can enter to win with a simple click: visit Facebook to enter.

Comp is open until Sunday 19 Feb, 2012.

Thanks to MUM PR and Inner B for the chance to review and giveaway this great diary!

Fisher Price Hot Wheels & Blokus Giveaway

Fisher Price understand kids. That’s what I felt since I picked up a few things for Bliss when she was a baby. I LOVE the space bouncer (totally not it’s name but what we call it!) and think the Rainforest Lights & Melody play mat is possible the best baby mat ever invented! I’m pretty well versed in Fisher and Price baby stuff but as my kids are still on the little side I hadn’t really explored the toys they make for older kids. Recently I had the chance to look at some first hand and I was pretty impressed!

They have a wide range of licensed toys, including the Toy Story figurines and Cars mechandise. This car is crazy cool! Bear thinks broom-brooming it is awesome and I can only imagine how much fun an older boy would have playing with it and and its features!

Speaking of boys…the Hot Wheels range – no words. They look so cool and I know that Bear would go NUTS for this if he was older.

They even have Hot Wheels for the walls!

Breakfast For The Whole Family

At the last Kellogg’s brunch I attended the lovely Kelly from Three Lil Princesses asked a question about transitional breakfast food for babies – something I’d never really thought about before; I’d just feeding my kids whatever I thought they could/would eat. But it’s actually a brilliant question and immediately I realised that the Sultana buds I’d taken home for the kids after the very first brunch were exactly that: a brilliant transitional food!

Bear and Bliss both love them, eating them dry or with milk and I love them because they are easy for them to eat and there’s no additional honey required.

I know that for some families the honey issue isn’t a problem and is something they would prefer to add however, in our house Bliss has become a bit obsessed with honey wanting to eat it constantly. It’s a habit I want to break and so, for us the Sultana Buds are perfect addition to our breakfast routine. (I’ve also been know to grab a handful as a mid-afternoon snack myself!)

Not only that, Sultanta Buds and Sultana Bran are high in fibre which is great for kids! If you’d like to read a review of the product from some people who actually have a clue about this (unlike me!) then check out the post on Do You Eat written earlier this year.

Sultana Buds, tranistional food for babies

Moving from fibre to treats, I thought it would be fun to add some Coco-Pops to this giveaway. Christmas is a fun, family time and I thought it was great to hear Kelly Burstow from Be A Fun Mum talk about buying Coco-Pops each school holiday for her kids to enjoy. So this holiday, I have a fun breakfast pack to give away and be enjoyed and it includes…

Prize pack is 2 boxes of SultanaBran Buds, 2 boxes of Sultana Bran and 2 boxes of Coco-Pops.

To enter tell me what your favourite breakfast meal is! The winner will be announced Friday 16th December.
